Who Died at Astroworld

Ten people died as a result of the crowd surge at the Astroworld Festival on November 5, 2021. The victims included students, young adults, and a military veteran. Their ages ranged from 9 to 27 years old.

Official Cause and Investigation

Officials said the deaths were caused by compressive asphyxia from a sudden crowd surge near the stage. Investigators found that security and medical staffing were insufficient for the crowd size. The Harris County medical examiner ruled all deaths accidental.

Multiple lawsuits were filed against the event organizers, the venue, and Travis Scott. Several settlements were reached with the families of the victims. Public vigils and memorials were held in Houston and other cities to honor the deceased.
