What Is the Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance
The Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance was an annual award presented by the Recording Academy to honor outstanding vocal performances in rock music. The category specifically recognized individual artists rather than bands or collaborations.
History and Criteria
The award was introduced in 1995 as part of the Grammy Awards categories. It was designed to celebrate the best rock vocal performances by solo artists. The Recording Academy defines eligibility based on vocal delivery and rock genre standards, with submissions judged by industry professionals.
Notable Winners and Legacy
Several prominent rock artists have won this award, including Lenny Kravitz and Bruce Springsteen. The category was retired after the 2011 Grammy Awards as part of a major restructuring of Grammy categories.
