Who Is Frank Morris
Frank Morris is best known as the central figure in the 1962 Alcatraz escape attempt, often dramatized in films and documentaries. He and two accomplices planned to leave the island using makeshift tools and dummy heads.
Is Frank Morris Still Wanted
Frank Morris is not currently listed on the FBI's Most Wanted list, and no active federal warrant for his arrest remains public. The FBI closed its active file on the Alcatraz case after decades of investigation with no confirmed sightings.
What Happened After the Escape
Authorities concluded that Morris and the other inmates likely drowned in the cold San Francisco Bay. In 2015, the FBI released documents stating the escapees probably did not survive. No credible evidence has shown them alive in later years.
Where to Find Official Updates
For the latest status on wanted persons, the public can check the FBI's official fugitives page. The bureau updates its lists regularly and removes cases when individuals are captured, confirmed dead, or no longer considered fugitives.
