What Is the Live Action Lilo Stitch Film
Disney is developing a live action adaptation of the animated film Lilo and Stitch. The project reimagines the story of a young Hawaiian girl and a mischievous alien creature in live action, using real actors and settings rather than animation.
Plot and Themes
The story follows Lilo, a lonely girl on the island of Kauai, who adopts Stitch, a genetically engineered alien. The film explores themes of ohana, or family, and belonging, while blending humor with emotional moments and a focus on Hawaiian culture.
Cast, Production, and Release
The film stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo and features Zach Galifianakis as the voice of Stitch. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the adaptation uses a mix of live action and visual effects to recreate the tropical setting. Disney has not yet announced a theatrical release date, and updates are expected closer to production milestones.
