Who Is John Wayne Gacy

John Wayne Gacy was an American serial killer and sex offender who murdered at least 33 young men and boys in Illinois between 1972 and 1978. He was often called the "Killer Clown" because he performed at children's parties as "Pogo the Clown."

Crimes and Investigation

Gacy lured victims to his home, where he sexually assaulted and murdered them. He was arrested in December 1978 after police discovered multiple bodies buried beneath his house. His trial in 1980 resulted in multiple death sentences.

Legacy and Resources

Gacy was executed by lethal injection in 1994. His case remains one of the most studied serial killer investigations in U.S. history. For detailed court records and victim profiles, see the FBI's case summary at fbi.gov/history/famous-cases/john-wayne-gacy.
